Our Soap-Making Process

The Hot Process Method

At Jungle Glow, we craft our soaps using the fluid hot process method, a time-honoured technique that allows us to preserve the full power of our Amazonian botanicals.

It all begins with a carefully selected blend of organic oils and butters, chosen to create the perfect balance of cleansing, conditioning, and lather. These oils are mixed with a lye solution, sparking the wonderful transformation into soap. By keeping the mixture warm, we accelerate this process until all the lye is fully consumed, ensuring a gentle, skin-loving bar.

What makes our method truly special is what happens next. Unlike the more common cold-process method—which also creates wonderful soaps—where all ingredients are added before saponification, we take a different approach. We incorporate our Amazonian butters, clays, herbs, and essential oils only after the soap has fully formed and the pH has lowered. This protects these precious ingredients from the harsh alkaline environment that occurs during saponification, allowing them to remain in their purest state—untouched by the soap-making process—so your skin receives their full, unspoiled benefits.

Our soaps are also highly superfatted—meaning we add extra butters and oils beyond what is needed for saponification. These luxurious plant-based fats remain free in the soap, creating a richer, more nourishing bar that helps keep your skin soft, smooth, and hydrated.

The result? A luxurious, nutrient-rich soap that cleanses without stripping your natural skin barrier, infused with the nourishing power of the Amazon Rainforest.
